![]() I can say that if I had sent the file I’m uploading right now, our 600MB file I’m still syncing to Google Drive would have been completely uploaded and ready to download by my clients in the time I’ve thought about and typed up this post (about 8 minutes). We never used the YSI/HT cloud features because cloud storage for large video files is a hassle IMHO. I’m completely uninterested in that – I want a dedicated service for sending huge files individually. A file I’m sending right now just seems to be uploading, but I have no idea at what speed, how long till completed, etc.Ĭloud services want to store all your stuff on their servers so you’ll keep buying more and more space. As a test I installed GDrive and I’m not seeing any way to send a file until it’s actually uploaded to their servers. I have a 5MB upload speed here at home and YouSendIt tops that out, gives me a specific time till completely uploaded, and the link sent is more standalone. My experience with cloud services is that they don’t really show you the progress of the file and don’t really max out the speeds of your uploads. What this means is that I can export a QT out of FCPX that can be up to 10 GB, right click on the file, and select ‘Send by You Send It’ and it uploads the file directly to a client who gets an email from me with our company logo on it and a download link. We use dropbox for files and little things. I don’t even use the cloud stuff for YouSendIt. On their site it’s called the Hightail express app, but it’s actually the Yousendit express app. I kind of wish they’d let customers choose which name to send it from.īy the way, if you want to take advantage of the 10GB service and have the ‘Pro’ account, you’ll need to redownload the “YouSendIt” express app from their website. With this, we’ll be able to send nearly 10 minutes of ProRes footage to clients in one upload. What do you guys think? From a practical standpoint 10gig file transfers for $25/mo is pretty solid. That, like YouSendIt, still doesn’t even remotely imply that they have a new cloud storage service. I guess the name denotes your files flying out of your computer as fast as possible. On their community forum people are already complaining that files sent from Hightail to clients will look like a porn spam email. This is a good thing.Īpparently they’re trying to become more of a dropbox type service but it’s just a weird name. Keep your creative projects moving with anytime, anywhere access to files in the Hightail app for Android and go from first share to final assets faster.Have you guys noticed that “YouSendIt” now has a new name called ‘Hightail”? A notable change with it is that you can now send up to 10GB files through the system on a Pro account. Send files that are stored in your Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive account to anyone Get notifications in real time when attention is needed Upload photos, videos and other large files for sharing from your device Review and add comments when you're on the go Check status updates for the projects you're working on Preview files that have been sent to you or shared via Hightail Spaces They will receive an email notification automatically, letting them know files are available for preview, review or download without requiring a Hightail account. Need to share photos, videos or documents from your device? All you need is your recipient’s email address to send large files through the app. If you need to leave feedback or respond to next steps, you can add comments through the Hightail app. Designed to streamline collaboration content reviews, especially when on the go, the Hightail app lets you quickly preview and stream multimedia files that are shared with you.
